The Lost Metal by Brandon Sanderson

Thoughts:

I am a Brandon Sanderson fan boy. I started with The Final Empire (book one, era one of Mistborn) back in 2020, during the lockdown. I got this recommended by Ali Abdaal and one of my close friends. I didn’t have any reading habit prior to this and just downloaded the .epub from zlibrary and started reading it. I have, eventually, read almost all of the Cosmere (the broad universe in which Mistborn takes place along with other stories) books, including The Stormlight Archive, Elantris, Warbreaker, etc.

So here we are, with the latest entry to the Mistborn series and me and devouring it in only 3 days. I loved the book and it was a great conclusion to the Wax and Wayne characters. Though there are other characters we get a perspective from as well. It has to be mentioned that when you are reading the seventh book in the series, you know it’s pretty hard for the author to mess it up, from your POV. So there’s a bias in that. But, it is a great story. The magic system is so well put and the world building is just the best there is.

This book is filled with references to other worlds in the Cosmere universe, which add depth and richness to the story. While it is possible to read and enjoy only the Mistborn series on its own, I find that connecting the dots and understanding the back-story of characters through references to other books in the Cosmere enhances the reading experience and makes it all the more enjoyable.

Even though it has only been a couple of months since TLM came out, it is not the latest addition to the Cosmere. Brandon Sanderson’s Secret Project #1 titled Tress of the Emerald Sea is the last released Cosmere book. I am sure you’ll enjoy the Mistborn series, and consequently, the whole of the Brandon’s creations.
